“Image Journaling Questions” (based on Bloom's Taxonomy)
How do you do it? Tie an image to a lesson! Allow the image to facilitate the discussion - the use of visual imagery can easily lead to better understanding. (Leaves visual cues behind for the students to revisit later!) Social Studies/History photos work absolutely great!!!! But, any topic can be covered.

No need to stop with photos... audio and video files can work the same way when partnered with a lesson. In the end, you want them to still write about their personal experience and knowledge with/of the topic.
